Is this a "real" ZT 780 Prototype?

Here is what I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300842531286

It has no markings, not even a finished blade, but it is coming from Oregon, so I figured based on that and the pics I did indeed get a real pre-prod knife for my collection. Is Thomas or someone here to validate that ZT does indeed release prototypes to employees like this?
 
being somewhat familiar with seller, I would say it is legit. Only my best guess though.

I would think it would say Prototype if it was a prototype.

Sometimes if you send a knife in for service and they replace the blade they might give you back a knife with no etching on it. Thats the only thing I can think of.

Either way that knife is still pretty rare, low production numbers.

Wow, I didn't know that, no etching on a fix? That's weird! Thomas is gone, but I can call, still have their contact info. Solid, when you say you were compensated, were you 100% happy? I just want a 780, this just happened to be the one that popped up, but I am in a trade for another (and 551, yay!), so if they want it back, I want to call knowing I won't get screwed :).Did you sign and NDA or something? I saw that the thread is closed, very mysterious like :). Oh yeah, I am thinking that you pre-ordered a 350OR the second they were announced, am I correct in that ;)? As soon as I heard of it, I thought of you :D, just like I do when I see ANY orange blade now...

Certainly looks like the 0780 I have- minus the markings on the blade. I never can tell with some ebay-ers, but Dave's acknowledgement is comforting.
 
I thought the prototype ones always were labeled as such. When KAI's Warranty service swaps out the blade, don't they use blank/unmarked ones? Perhaps that's what is in this one?
 
Is this how much 0780s sell for or was it because it said "prototype" it went for over $200?

Not selling mine.

I would imagine if that was the case, it would have a knife edge on it, this one doesn't, it is like a trainer or something...

That is why I paid that much, yep, because I felt good it was a proto. I am working on getting a normal one now (pretty much done deal, along with a 551, trading for a CRK large 21). All I need then is a 400 and a 500, well, and the ones being delivered by unicorns (777, 888, 560CF, etc.)

Do you have the 0750? I have one and I'm not a fan of it.
 
This seller has always had unique items, if it were a replacement, it would be sharp. All prototypes are not marked as such, they didn't use too let them out at all. I do not know if he is supposed to have it or not, but I also suspect if he were not, that he wouldn't put it on the bay. If it was something I wanted , I would trust this seller, I have him saved , because he has a lot of stuff I like, he recently had a 1050 with nickel bolsters and micarta handles, very cool and rare. Nuff said.
