Is this a safe gamble??

Upon thoroughly enjoying my Game Warden I decided to make the plunge on ordering a new BATAC. But as a new piglet I had to decide which one to go with. Never having held a larger Busse blade I did what any self-respecting, obsessive-compulsive collector/user would do and ordered.....three. I decided the best way to decide which I liked best would be to order the three blades I think I'll like most: a Tan/Snake, a Tan with Magnum Tan handles and an LE. That way I can hoist and fondle them a bit and make an informed decision. Here is where my question comes in.....if I decide to keep two, or even just one, will I likely be able to get my original purchase price plus shipping fee back if I sell them on the Exchange? Or, b/c this is being offered right now on the Company Store, is the aftermarket going to be relatively small, making it difficult to sell? I guess I'm hoping there will be somebody out there who couldn't afford one now that will be glad I decided to sell one, but thought I'd ask about how things usually play out. Thanks for the input.

So you ordered 3 BA-TAC's to get an accurate assessment of the 3 configurations? If you decide to sell them for what they went for and your shipping costs, I believe they would sell.

I don't have any infi (yet), but after having observed the market on here for quite some time, I would say it would be a good bet that you could almost instantly get your purchase price plus shipping back. I see Busse knives selling quickly for half again to double their original purchase price all the time. There are several Busse "dealers" on here, just go to the for sale area and click on a few names until you find one with almost all of his posts in the for sale area, and look at what he's getting.

just to be clear, that is NOT the Company Store: www.bussecompanystore.com

stuff sold at the BCS is ready to be shipped out, stuff from the website likely hasn't even been put together yet

and if history is any indicator, i think you can easily get your money back out of them

I don't think I've ever lost money on a Busse, sometimes you have to wait a while for the demand to over take the supply, like the GW you got. If you look at the exchange right now or epay, there are FBM's for sale and selling for roughly what they went for.

There's a lag between when the shop stops producing and the knives show up at the company store. Lot's of folks going $h1t, I should have ordered one while I had the chance (where you could find an FBM for sale today, Shunk doesn't have them yet). So there is a window of "opportunity" there, and after they're gone from both sites, they are easier to sell.

FBM's were also selling while they were being produced, because folks didn't want to wait, some whom had gotten their's early sold it and, say, ordered a different handle style or color.

Just some observations, hope it helps.

Lazlo:

I did the same thing with my BATAC order. Ordered a JSC/Tan, an OD/Black, and a BATACLE. I feel pretty confident about resale (at cost) of the one(s) I don't want. Problem is I have a sinking suspicion that I may want them all:eek: .

If you like your GW, you'll go psycho over the bigger INFI. Get a Battle Mistress when they hit the company store. "NO REGRETS"

FYI, like yermom said, I spoke with the factory folks last week and no work had begun on the BATACs at that point.

Thanks for pointing that out, Yermon.
I should have known better as I've spent a fair deal of time refreshing the Company Store paging hoping to get lucky on a Fire Warden.

It's good to know that I'm not alone in my approach, mike biz, and it sure helps to get some insight from you guys into how things work.
It seemed like the best way to honestly assess which knife I'd like best, just wanted to make sure I wasn't being stupid.
If smaller INFI is so good, I can't wait to handle big INFI. Bring on the 15th Anniversary INFI...No regrets!
Thanks.

That 15th anny Steel Heart is going to rock.

I never considered myself a fan of big blades (in my book that's anything over ~4 inches. Then I got the CGFBM. That is a damn fine blade and has converted me.

have no worries my friend, youll be able to sell off which ever one you want and wont lose any $$$$, the only problem with busse is when you start buying you cant stop..no regrets....no regrets ....no regrets...

agreed with the posts about getting your money back.

also consider, you'll get them, love them all, and not sell any!

I'll just add my voice to the mix - NO WORRIES! Those are some sweet combos you ordered and if you don't like one of 'em, you should be able to get out what you put in...I've never lost money on a Busse, and generally just try to break even when I get rid of 'em, although I have listed some for more if it's one I especially like or is more rare...

My guess is you will keep the LE and one other one. And then get a CGFBM followed by a 15th anniversary steel heart. Man your in trouble now.:D

Badgers have always been pretty popular, so you should be able to resell them pretty easily. However, as long as they're available from the BCK website or the Company Store, you might have to take a slight loss to sell them.

Check out what War Boars go for on the exchange. Maybe they'll get back to the original selling price once they're no longer available from the Company Store, but I expect it'll take a while. I expect Badgers, being a much more useful model than the War Boar, will recover more quickly once they go out of production, but I also expect that Skunk will order a whole lot of them for the Company store. I think you're still probably talking about at least several months after BCK moves on to the next model before you can get 100% or more of your money back on them.

First, I got one from ProGunner.

It was lonely.:(

So I got one from...another Hog.

The grouping lacked symmetry.:(

So I picked up a GW. It was cool.:D

Now I'm rapidly becoming INFI-broke, a condition the NIH will likely take a decade to address, let alone mitigate. But, hey, I've got a LOT of Game Wardens...and other forms of INFI.

So good luck. It's already too late.:)

If you ordered one from Busse Combat, you will get it long before they go on sale at the company store. If you act fairly quickly with your decision making process, decide that you have one to sell, and you are willing to sell it for what you have in it, I think you will immediately sell it on the exchange. Lots of folks are impatient (I'm one of them) and will pay the extra shipping to get it now instead of waiting the normal wait from Busse.

However, if you really only want one, quit reading these posts and looking at the pictures. It has a profound effect and makes you want to be a collector..................be careful my friend.
