I cant decide if i should send this back and get a new one. Maybe i am making a mountain out of mole hill here, but i would appreciate some opinions. Basically what you are looking at is a brand new fallkniven V1. And where the blade meets the guard is the small gap. Just enough to slide a corner of paper into it. The other side is air tight and I dont know why, It just bugs me there is this gap.

Send it back...that is NOT what the knife is supposed be like.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the input. To be honest I am leaning slightly stronger towards keeping it. Everything else on the knife is flawless and I am very happy with the wood handle grains. And the sharpness and geometry of the blade is truly impressive.

I have a few days here to think about it before I make any final decision. I might just slip some aluminium foil in there and trim it short and be done with it. That photo i took is a very unflattering picture of the problem. Looking at it top down its barely noticeable at all. Still it took a lot of saving to afford it, so I just dont know.

If you keep it and use it, good for you. I personally would send it back but I can be picky about these type of things.

Yes I dont think it will be much trouble to send it back and get a new one. I am contacting Fallkniven and I will let you know how it goes. Me too I am picky about these things as it cost me a lot of hard work to purchase it. I hope they can fix it in there shop pretty easily.

That V1 costs WAY too much money for it to not be perfect. I mean once you get to those higher price points, fit and finish is what you are really paying for..

Okay, I have contacted fallkniven about the issue through email, and sent them pictures of the problem. I have sent it back to sweden for possible repair or replacement. Peter is a really nice guy and wants to make sure this is taken care of. He is waiting for the knife to arrive so he can inspect it and decide what action to take. a So far so good! Really appreciate all of your advice on this matter. I might have just kept it here as is, but now I feel ten times better knowing I will be getting the knife as it was ment to be.

Hi guys. I want to give this thread a final update. The knife made it to sweden, and 1 day later they sent me a new knife and it will be here in a few days. Great customer service from these guys. Very friendly, very nice to talk to, very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this little known knife maker Fallkniven.

Awesome that they replaced it, but I dissagree with little known. They have been around for quite a while and have proven themselves fine knife makers and designers. I have a few of there knives and they are surpurb imo. Use that knife and im sure you will love it as well.

Oh I was just joking. sorry about that. I agree they have an outstanding reputation and history and they have proven it to me too. I have 25 email conversation with peter just talking about knives to prove it. Incredibly cool knife maker. My feeling for them is they are having tons of fun doing it.

Thanks for keeping the same thread up to date, this is very helpful.

Anytime I find a fault that bugs me (some just are "character" on inexpensive knives) it eats at me every time I use the knife and always regret not sending it back. Sometimes the feeling goes away (D2 Griptilian with off-center blade) and sometimes it just keeps bugging (Granfors SFA with very bad grain).

Act fast if it bothers you on a knife so nice it could be a custom.
