Is this an 1960`s Buck?

Hi.

I have seen this knife for sale £23 and am thinking of buying it.

I have Googled "Buck 166" as marked on the blade and get zero results.

It looks really modern, I cannot believe it`s from the 60`s

It is not from the 1960s. That one was made in 2001.

The model number is 186, not 166. The model name is Odyssey. 420HC steel.

It is not from the 1960's. I do not know of any company that made knives like that in the 1960's. It is a 186 from the early 2000's. I think JC57 is probably correct as to the exact year.

PooUserName, there is no question about the age... the symbol after 186 is the date code for 2001. With a little zoom and contrast you can see the middle digit is "8"
