Is this an 858OT?

Hey guys,
Went to the schrade picture website and tried to find this one. I think it's an 858OT but the tang is stamped G.D.O.T. on the main blade. The other two blades have G.D.O.T. marked on the back side of the blades as well. Just trying to mark off the ones I have and figured it had to be an 858OT but wanted to double check.

Thanks!
Marc

Is it the right size (4 and change)? Then, yes. If you're going to use it, best of luck with the spey. Mine was sharp as a marble and still isn't right. Think I may send it to EdgePro.

Here is a side by side of an 858 and an 8OT, note the rounded bolsters, more serpentine shape, and large swedge aswell as the fancy bolsters.

Thanks Muskrat Man. I must have missed that pic on the Schrade site. I'd say it's the 8OT. The knife was made in 1974. Does that make it like the 75th and 80th anniversary knivesI've seen before with the exception that the 75th and 80th are a lot more ornate?

I don't know what the 'reason' was behind the GDOT series, but they are basic Old Timer patterns made with black handles, blade etches, and decorative display boxes.

The 1985 anniversary Old Timers have distinctive red bone handles.

Both the '85 and GDOT special edition Old Timers have serial numbers on the bolsters.

Also, note the tang stamps. The GDOT have a special tang stamp that doesn't list an OT#. But the '85 anniversary knives have standard OT tang stamps.

The GDOT knives were made to commemorate the 70th anniversary. Two came out in '74 (stockman and barlow), and two came out in '75 (junior stockman - I believe this was referred to as GDOT II - and sharp finger).

That serpentine looks like an actually pocketable version of a Case seahorse. Now to find one. ;)

I'll blame my miss earlier on a bad back. Maybe the ache addled my brain!
