Is this an Al Mar Warrior?

Hello, I am new to this forum and hope to learn a few things about a knife that looks like an Al Mar Warrior. It is not marked on the blade as "MAR" as other photos I have seen, but has the logo on the blade and sheath. The reverse of the blade is marked with an asterisk symbol *. What does the * mean? The blade appears to be blued. Since I have no posting rights yet I'll try a link to the photos.
I appreciate any comments to guide me in my research. Thanks

Need better pics of the logo on the left side of blade to indentify it.

Here's your pics

Is this one a prototype? I am puzzled by the lack of the name and why the asterisk is on the opposite side of the blade.

Sorry I know nothing about this company. Looks pretty cool to me though.

edit: Looking up google images the only ones I found that are logo'd that exact same way are the bare steel ones with a red logo. The rest of the black ones with it on the left side also have a little Al Mar stamp.

Apparently it's a rare knife! Hope yours is real. I read up a bit here - http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?35755-Syderco-Hobbit-Warrior
Mr Blonde from that forum has some pictures of his, it doesn't have the logo on the right

Michael Janich, who works with Spyderco has written an interesting and informative booklet about the Warrior which comes with each Spyderco Warrior and Pygmy Warrior - "The Warrior Path - The History, Evolution and Purpose of the Warrior Knife". I looked through my copy (has some good photos also) and did not see any mention of the asterisk or photos of an Al Mar Warrior with one. Maybe contact Mr. Janich through the BladeForums Spyderco sub-forum or Spyderco's own forum. There are a couple of threads running in the Spyderco forum concerning the Warrior and Pygmy Warrior. Lots of words to say I don't know, but maybe it will give you another lead? Mike

It's obviously a fake. I'll buy it off you for $20 just so I can hang it next to my real one.

Just kidding - I'm pretty sure it's legit. Very cool blade man!

The logo and asterisk markings do seem unusual, but other than that, your warrior looks genuine. If it is a fake, it's a very good one.

There were various other Al Mar logos, colors, etc.... used on early models and on models sold in other countries, so that might come into play. The knife and sheath are certainly correct when judged, against other known legitimate models.

Ryanne Mar, who is Al Mar's daughter, is a member here, you might ask her if she recognizes it from a certain era -

Thanks for the assistance. I don' t have privileges to send mail yet. I did post a visitor message, and included additional photos to my first photos link. I hope for more information to date this knife and about the * symbols meaning.

DaddyDog, you can only send a PM (Private Message) if you're a paid member. But anyone can send email if the other person authorizes it. Click on their username and call up their profile. Down the left side, see if it says email, click on that and you can send a message that way.
