Hey guys, is this an hi kukuri? Im not sure, I dont see kami marks, but the.dont show both sides. the reason i ask is it has the same brass inlays as mine, and the engraving also looks like my kumar. Hope it isn't a violation of the rules to ask this. I dont think im buying it, its cheap enough, but I have enough......and I know they're top quality. It always worries me when one side isn't shown, how bad is it.

Still,, I see enough similarities in the engraving to wonder.

Nice looking kukri but I dont think its an HI product. PS youre not allowed to link to auctions just post photos.

How can you tell for sure. It could be a very early one. It sure has a lot of HI characteristics. I looked hard but can't find any markings on it, the side the kami mark is usually on almost looks like it's been ground off or something but the pictures aren't great.

Hate to find out it's a Bura one of a kind and we let it slip off to an unworthy person but I can't tell anything for sure.
Guess we could get it and use it as a throw down kuk.

We're gonna get spanked. This should have been in the cantina. You tricked me, baited me in. Now I'm an accessory.

I won't be able to sit down for a week, wait, I don't got any other freaking options. You did this to me.......................:o

Sorry guys, ill upload it to photobucket next time and bring the pic here. Live and learn, I thought since I wasn't buying it would be ok, but no problem.

However, since ive gotten two of the polished blades with kami marks, I tend to inspect the others I see. Look for similarities or how sharp/weak the engraving is, etc. In my strange meanderings, I looked up unusual knives........quite an eclectic group appeared.

If I remember right most Kukri factories do not allow Kami marks. And from the pic - it looks like it was marked, thus a tiny possibility to be from HI. Who knows?

Sorry Hawke, I had to remove the live ebay link as they are not allowed, under the "deal spotting" rules.
Moving to the Cantina, as I don't believe this to be an HI khukuri.

I have dozens of HI khuks dating from the early 1990's. The khukuri looks correct for an HI but the frog on the sheath looks very light to be made by HI.
