Hello everybody,

I am new to this forum and, being a newcomer, I have only been reading posts without actually posting anything as I like to get to know more about the forums I visit.

Then, this morning I came across this rather curious information page about this forum. Is this "official"? Is there really a "Pirate Cove" somewhere (I looked, but could not find it) and how can I access it? How about some "'Phucktard" list? Is any of what this page claims really true?!

Thanks,

Eloso

PS: for those who might have problems accessing the page in question, here is the text of it:

The Facts Regarding BladeForums.com, the Lying Edge of Knife Discussion
www.bladeforums.info

There is a certain element that dwells in the private forums at BladeForums.com, specifically the 'Pirate's Cove' and 'Whine and Cheese' (W&C) forums (only accessible by paying members)...that apparently doesn't like their fellow forumites who hold views which may be different than their own. Specifically, in the 'Pirates Cove' forum the forumites refer to themselves as "pirates", and they maintain what is referred to as a "PT" list. The "PT" of "PT list" being wordplay on the term 'Phucktard', which apparently is their cute way of saying '****tard' without feeling that they've soiled their lips with profanity. These self styled 'pirates' will attempt to add anyone to this 'PT list' who dares to either 1) 'cross their path', i.e. rebuke them for their radical behavior on the forums, or 2) disagree with them on any subject matter whatsoever.

The PT list maintainers in the Pirate's Cove forum are in the habit of singling out those they deem deserving of being added to the list and getting rid of them. One method of ridding themselves of an "undesireable" forum member is by scuttling the reputation of the PT listee with negative reputation points handed out by the dwellers in that private forum. Many of these private forum members have huge amounts of positive reputation points themselves (...given to themselves by themselves, in what may be rightly referred to as a circle-jerk), so they are in effect immune from any negative reputation points given them in return by the individual they are targeting, while they are free to bombard that individual with negative reputation points in mass, putting that individual in "the red", and ruining that individual's reputation throughout the entire board. Since these negative reputation points show up board-wide, what is essentially occurring on a private forum is harming the reputation of anyone who crosses them elsewhere on the board, while the board "rules" prohibit private forum matters from spilling over onto the rest of the board, (except when it comes to the scuttling of a persons reputation with negative reputation points, presumably).

This type of behavior appears to be approved by the owner of the board, an individual by the name of Kevin Jon Schlossberg (who also apparently owns the website OneStopKnifeShop.com), as moderators of the BladeForums.com board are among some of the worst offenders, effectively becoming the enforcement arm of the BladeForum.com 'pirates' via their power to ban members for absolutely no cause other than their own trumped-up reasons.

In conclusion, it is a shame that a small cabal of radical forumites are allowed to run roughshod over the rest of the paying (and non-paying) members to the detriment of the rest of the knife community.
Not surprising actually, given the fine examples of similar behavior readily apparent elsewhere in today's society.

Why don't you call him up and ask?

Or would you just be calling yourself? Amazing coincidence that you post this 1 day after the site was created.

oh my goodness!!!

can I be a pirate?

can I be part of the "enforcement arm"?

It sounds, well, forceful.

Why don't you pay the Gold membership fee and find out what it's all about for yourself? :)

So which one of the banned ex-members are you?

This site is bladeforums.COM. The site you have referred to is bladeforums.INFO. It's a bit like Portland, Oregon vs Portland, Maine. Same city name, but in different states. And, as a result, two different cities.

So, no, bladeforums.info is NOT related to bladeforums.com.

I'm not sure if Spark has a trademark on his logo. If so, he might be able to force the author of this .info page to remove that.

WOW! THIS cat needs a LIFE!

ALL THAT TROUBLE just for being picked on and then banned at BF...

This is what road ragers do when they're not behind the wheel. ;)

Ironically, I think the "info" page in question gives a rough picture of what goes on around here. But who cares? It's a forum, there are insiders and outsiders and a definite majority point of view.

I could name a half dozen regular posters with whom I disagree with 99% of the time, but who make intelligent, cogent comments in favor of their views of things. I could name another half dozen who are inflammatory hacks. Those lists aren't going to change based on their reputation points.

Good thing the "info" page author doesn't know about the pirates' theft of the hotties thread or he'd be really pissed off!

Would someone mind telling me just what that information page is that eloso/jiminy posted?

Just click on the link in his post. But, it's been fully quoted in this thread. It's really just a page of text which has been quoted here. It's a rant against the entire bladeforums site and community by someone who apparently ran afoul of some of the crew in the Cove.

As I often tell people, that place is the lawless tribal region of bladeforums. If you go there, don't expect any official protection. Mearly clicking on that forum in the listing is a social contract in which you agree that nobody's got your back except you.
