I've got some Hestra leather balm which I've used for my leather gloves.

Is this stuff good for my leather sheath too or what? The thing that worries me Is, that it made my gloves supple. I'm worried my sheath would lose some of its shape if I apply this beewax based balm.

As seen here: http://hestragloves.com/en/gloves/accessories/hestra-leather-balm/

What do you guys think?

The ingredients:

Lanolin, bees wax, carnauba wax, vegetable oils, vaseline, paraffin, glycerine and mulsifan

Why are you considering the use? Has the sheath dried out? This is the time to remember that old adage..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it". If, on the other hand, the sheath has dried out some and the top seal coat has worn off you might apply this product VERY sparingly and work it in well. This IS NOT a case of If a little is good, a lot will be great". While the ingredients contain nothing that would harm your leather, there are quite a few that will tend to soften it especially if used beyond SPARINGLY.

Hey Paul

I am considering using it as a regular preventive treatment. The sheath is still in excellent condition and show no sign of drying out.

I treat my boots and gloves to prolong their lifespan, even though the leather on them is still in good condition. Its supposedly also good for the water repellant properties.

I was thinking such preventive treatment also applies to leather sheaths, but i can understand on your post that it does not. Its a deep carry leather sheath, so stiffness is pretty important.

I will leave the sheath be for now.

Thanks for your post. I learned something new there
