I have a similar anvil that some seller included with a knife purchase some years ago.......but this is something else and marked differently.

Now where did this one come from?

eBay link removed, read the site rules.

These are nothing new. They have been being sold for the last 2 or 3 years. Do a search and you will find several being sold.

Odd. I don't remember seeing one.

Maybe it's something in the search I usually use.

I'm pretty sure that the one I got years ago......probably from Smokey Mountain......was free.

Yeah, I did a search for "Buck anvil" and there's lots of them.

And they're selling for about $40, which seems high. I wonder if Buck sold them or gave them away free?

The Anvils were a Smoky Mountain promotional giveaway in 2014. You received one 'FREE' with a $100 purchase. I obtained several that way. $40 sale is $40 profit as the seller didn't pay anything for it. Attached is a clip from the October 2014 SMKW catalog.

Makes a great photo prop.

Ah.......that's the same way that I got my differently marked earlier anvil some years before that.

I never heard about this one. There were family health problems around the time of that second one, I'll bet that's why I wasn't paying attention for a couple of years. I bet if I passed them on e-Bay I just assumed they were like the one I had.

I still have mine. I suppose Buck hands them out to the locals who stop in and folks at big knife shows. Apparently some people are cashing in.......or whoever made them is still making them and selling them. Maybe it's another of those China scams.

Forty bucks is a pretty nifty profit.

Thanks much for the info.

Are they stout enough to be used as an anvil? Like peening rivets in leather work. Or will they just crack and break if beat on?

O.B.

Cool! A buck 50th anniversary jeweller's anvil.
Could use that.
Understand it's made in the PRC.

But whenever I see such an anvil,
I m reminded Of the sobering ring scene in schlindler's list...

Find the Schmuckatelli Co. Pewter beads cool too.
