I picked it up at a yard sale. The collection included lots of high end knives, tons of Randall's.
No markings of any kind...

Any info?
Thanks,
Chad

I hope the Randalls were marked. I don't see this as a very special custom, hand made though.

Something tells me there is more to the knife than meets the eye. The pins in the hilt are not exactly common, and being off a bit seem somewhat experimental. The fit of the materials, scales to hilt and pommel, appears to be very nicely done, nice and tight. The line of light across the handle suggests that the maker got the bolts flush with the surface of the handle material. A lot of well known knife makers don't always manage that. Seems like maybe an early work of someone who was very passionate about making knives, and possibly didn't feel it was worthy of marking. Whoever made it definitely had some skills though, I hope they kept making knives.

Some maker's marks are very hard to see. I have a SOG Bowie made by Gary Hicks back in the 80s, and it took a while and getting the knife at the right angle in the right light to see the engraving.

Kind of my thoughts, sadly the collector has passed away, and it's a family member that is selling the collection. So it may never be known what or where this thing has come from....
I can say that this collector was not afraid to use high end knives, they had somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 Randall made knives, and many of them had been "used", not to mention several other knives numbered, limited runs, etc that were also in used condition.
So whatever it may be, may be just some hobbyist hand made ,or a lost grail??
It quite possibly will simply go into my hunting gear and or be passed along to a non knife bearing individual....
