Is this Kershaw a counterfit?

I purchased Shallot 1840 from Amazon, it arrived in the standard packaging. First thing I notice is the box has a sticker that says Made in USA on the box covering "Made in China". Next I take the knife out and inspect it, I notice a slight nick on the blade and very slight discoloration on the outside of the pocket clip. It kind of looks like a smudge of oil or something but its a discoloration of the metal itself.

I also noticed the alternative position for the clip had marks and what appeared to be some residue as if the clip had been there at one point in time. I sent them an email, they send me a new knife promptly for free. I receive it, and there are the same marks on the clip even worse. Is this knife a knock-off, is this normal? The engraving on the clip is also erratic, inconsistent depth tooling marks in the engraving etc. Im not sure if I am being overly anal or not, feedback would be appreciated.

Use the yellow square under the arrow pointing to the left.

The knife looks like it might be one that someone returned to Amazon, they just put it back on the shelf. I'd send it back to Amazon with images and an explanation.

Looks real to me, but looks like someone sent it back and they resold it as new. Not cool.

If it's fake then it's one of the best Kershaw fakes I've seen. Looks like the real deal to me.

Yeah, I used "insert image" square. But the images weren't displaying. Its the second knife they have sent me (I didn't take pictures of the first) and the flaws are very similar. And its just through Amazon, they are not the direct dealer.

They are telling me their product comes directly from Kershaw. They have no physical store or anything. One knife maybe, but two?

So this is obviously not the quality I should be expecting?

I remember when I got my kershaw dive knife it had a "Made in USA" sticker covering up made in japan

You need to put IMG instead of URL in your tags for the images to show.

Send the knife back, get your money and get one from an online retailer. There are many to choose from. I had the same thing happen to me last year with a Native 3, it was completely thrashed and I sent it back.

The knife is real, but does look like a return that they re-sold as new again.
The clip position is in the proper place as from the factory, tip down.

As for the box tags, new packaging is being introduced and old packaging for USA, Japan and China production is being used up. So, some Japan/China boxes may have tags.

If it is stained and you don't want it, return it to Amazon and ask for a refund.
I'm sure there are plenty of Dealers on this forum that would be happy to sell you one
at a more than fair price.

It's real. I purchased my Shallot from an authorized dealer, it came in that same kind of box and it has uneven etching. No nicks/smudges on it though.

This is my answer too. It's not a fake.
