is this khukuri a military model?

I cannot confirm weather the markings are genuine, or whether this example has ever been issued, but it does look like the current military model. If you want to take a look at the HI FAQ, the Himilayan Imports BAS model is a stronger and more refined version of the current military issue knife. This one went for a good price, usually they close at $25-35.

The shape of the handle and cho and the design of the karda and chakma all seem to me to indicate Indian manufacture, so the "NEPAL" blade stamp seems questionable.

You're right, Berk. The stamp says Nepal but the knife says India and looks like it might be a village military style which might mean the blade could be well done.

I guess it saids "Nepal" in English to help the trooper communicate should he happen to find himself in New Jersey.

Not that thicker is by nature better, just checking my perception.

From the photo of the cho, it looks to me like the blade is very thick.

Thicker than std HI model. Agree?
