Is this knife abuse? (Microtech inside)

I don't know if it constitutes abuse but I will bet that either of my SOCOMS (regular tanto or mini) will do the same thing.

I can't read German either, but I have beaten one of my Socom Elites mercilessly and it's always stepped up and taken what was handed to it and just keeps going. If for some absurd reason I had to actually poke 40 holes in a 55 Gal. drum, I'm pretty sure it would just take it and not flinch.

It might not be as tough as a Strider SMF, but it's pretty tough. Microtech has a rep for being well finished and pretty, but make no mistake, they're not just beauty queens, the Socom Elite really is a tough knife.

No, I don't think it's abuse.
Most decent knives should be able to open a tin can without too much problem.

I'm with the Walking Man, if opening a tin can is abuse then I'm guilty 100 times over. Hell, a knife is a tool, it is up to the individual to decide what is abuse in thier usage of the tool. What makes the differance is when you break or damage a knife using it for tasks that it clearly was not intended. If you bitch and complain that the maker/MFGR won't honor warranty because you broke your knife, you become a whiner at that point.

To tell the truth, IMO folks on BFC make too much of knife abuse, so what if some one wants to destroy a perfectly good knife, that is their business.

That speaks very well of the knife to stand up to that and still cut paper, albeit a little serratedly.
The tip was in good shape after all that..
thumbs up to MT

I don't think that you need to read German to understand the results. ;)

Very impressive ! :D

I knew that there were reasons that make me want to gather Microtechs ! :D
