Is This Knife Anything Special?

I think not. A few years ago I stepped out of my pickup in a remote area, and stepped right onto this knife. The knife had been well used. I didn’t think much of it, and tossed into my toolbox in my shop. Due to my recent interest in knives, I dug it out, cleaned it up, and took some photos. I was surprised to see that it was a Kershaw. The other day while out in the hills, I took the knife along to take some photos.

Aus6 steel , should take a really sharp edge but retention wont be that long.

Who cares though , it was free :D

It’s a cheap knife, and still available. I just looked at the edge with a magnifying glass, and there are a few small nicks, and a paper test shows it to be fairly dull, but for a knife in my shop, where most of its use will be for stabbing wood to see if there is any rot, I’ll just toss it back in the toolbox as is. It has a strange rubbery handle. Easy to grip in wet conditions according to the Kershaw page. The Kershaw factory is just north of me too, and yes, the price Was right. :D

If I found a usable knife out in the woods, itd be something special to me at least. I've only ever found horseshoes and shotgun shells!

I worked in the woods for 31 years, and have found a lot of things over the years. People would drive off with tool boxes on their bumpers. I’ve found tools in the middle of the road many times. I’ve scored a lot of cool things over the years, but nothing of any real value. That’s how I acquired my Leatherman. Looked brand new. Another neat score was a 24-inch pipe wrench. I just happened to look down, and only part of the wrench was still showing. It had been laying there for so long, it was full of dirt, and mostly covered in fir needles. Took it apart, cleaned it up, painted it, and it’s served me well for almost 28 years.

Now, if I had found D. B. Cooper’s stash, That would have been something special. :D
