Yesterday when I opened BF, this message appeared at bottom of laptop screen (pic 1). I clicked on the "do not share" option and next message came up (pic 2). I clicked on the green light to remove it (pic 3) but the message remained the same so I did not check "confirm choice". Today, that message does not appear so am wondering if it was legit?Option 1.jpgOption 2.jpgOption 3.jpg

It's legit and baked into the forum software. It's just legal mumbo jumbo for compliance purposes and I doubt it has any affect on your data privacy no matter whether you allow sharing or not. (Facebook , Twitter, Google have other means of circumventing these measures).

See here for what information is gathered and stored: https://www.bladeforums.com/help/cookies/

OK thanks, since it only appeared for one day I was suspicious.

You apparently live in Arizona. But a couple of your recent log ins have been from California. You likely got that query when you first logged in from a California IP. If you stayed logged in, you only got the one because the setting does not change until you log out or until you clear your cookies. That query that you got is due to California regulations. People who put cookies on a computer in California are forced to ask permission about sharing the data they gather with the cookies.

Add:
I should clarify that the cookies in question are placed by the outfit that does the banner ads. BF neither collects nor sells your data.
