Trying to swap scales on a new spyderco, a couple of the screws were very difficult to extract. Finally got them, there is a ton of white gunk inside. I am aware of the red/blue loctite switch that spyderco made a while back, but not sure what white loctite is (If it is actually loctite).

Loctite does market a white product, Loctite 561, apparently designed as a sealant for pipe threads and associated fittings. Comes in a solid stick form, instead of the more commonly known red/blue/green liquid products they make. Hard to say if what you've got is the same stuff. But it's possible. If the knife is brand new, you might contact Spyderco and ask them what this is, if they're willing to say.

Edited to add:
Apparently, Permatex also makes a white paste thread sealant. Product no. 64477946. Based on online descriptions, it may be more applicable to this type of use.

Browsing through Spyderco's forum I see several references to Spyderco knives with white thread locker.

There is also clear thread locker, which I believe turns white when dried.

As LocTite seems the most common thread locker, and have bought several knives with thread locker already applied that has always been somewhere between white and gray when I take the knife apart, I assume whatever color it begins as it ends up white-gray

Some blue threadlockers look kind of white after they have been broke loose but I doubt that is the case here
