Is this Mil Tac karambit worth it??

I am a huge karambit fan and would like to get a fixed blade version. Old school karambits had a blade sharp on two sides. They are hard to find. There is one made by Mil-Tac that has a 3.3" blade and is 7" overall. The back part of the blade is not sharp….but it can be sharpened as from what I have read. It's 154CM. I could probably sharpen it myself, but because it has a curve….I'm thinking perhaps it might be best to send it out and have it sharpened by a real pro. With that said, two questions. Is this knife worth $230? And if so…who would it be best to send it to put a scary sharp edge on the other side? I have had some training with a karambit and I feel very confident with one on my side. I never leave my home without my folding version....figure I should get a fixed one. Thanks!!

And on the BAY they are running for over $420....

Its a nice looking kbit. If that's what you want id say go for it.

That said there are a lot of other options id personally opt for. Bastinelli has a lot of compact karambits for cheaper. TOPS scorpions tail is a great kbit for cheaper aswell.

If you've got the cash, check out karambit.com , custom section. somr impeccablr midtechs and customs on there for great prices.

[Link removed. Deal spotting isn't a good idea...]

this is probably my favorite kbit....

edit: sorry rev didn't know no links at all were allowed

Can't say I like that foot long karambit. The reason I like the Mil Tac is that I can sharpen the other side. The blade goes almost all the way down to the center of the scales. Some places sell them for well over $400...the two big shops have them for $230. I'm really on the fence. I like my folding Brous karambit that I modified by putting a clip on the other side as well as a wave....but I just don't know about this one. It looks fantastic to the eye though....

If you like it, go for it...

Keep in mind also, if you're planning on having it sent out for sharpening, you can have virtually any karambit also sent out for full reprofiling to get a sharp double edge.... Just food for thought.

I have, and of all the models....I think this one would work best. The steel is made of 154CM and that's some rather good stuff....not exotic, but very nice steel. Do you have any better options? I like the fact the blade goes all the way into the scales. Fixed blades that end right were the scales begin are...well...not all that great. But please, if you can find a better option to have both size blades sharp in a fixed configuration....I'm all ears!!

If you are that excited about it go for it man. I don't know much about that company. I know Emerson has a fixed karambit, not sure of price comparison to the one that you like. If the company is reputable and you are that in love with it, $230 isn't as crazy as like the Strider one for $400.
Best of luck.

for 230, throw down a little more cash and get a coogler....

Or just get the mil tac, seems like your hearts set on it. I've just never heard of the brand so can't endorse them especially at that price point

I think Mil-Tac is Craig Sword's company. I got a couple of knives he did. Both very nice.

I would say, go for the Mil-Tac karambit. You seem to like it. The price is not exorbitant. But if you get it, play with it as is for a while. When you decide it is your style, then go for a regrind on the back of the blade.

Not crazy about the Emerson stuff...even the folding versions. The Strider looks nice, I just don't know where to pick one up. I believe they had double edged versions as well...but then went to single sided ones. I understand they are hard to find...I can't seem to find one. I saw the looks of this one...and it really looks nice and very well built. I think it's a 1 of 1 though. I would consider this...what says you??

"Unequivocally the most Powerful EDC Karambit’s ever built."

I just wish I knew where!!!!

I mean.....isn't that one really beautiful looking blade??? Regardless who made it. How much do you think it would cost me to have one like this made??

Not sure if it would need to be such a thick piece of steel for an EDC fixed blade weapon. I like thick steel but on a fixed blade that you can only really use in one very rare, almost nonexistent situation it might be a burden. That thing is probably venturing into handgun weight, just saying.

It is a very nice looking knife...I'm really liking how thick it is to be honest. They do make a version of the knife that is half the thickness for $100 less. I found out that the steel is 440C...not really my favorite. I was really hoping it would be S30V or 154CM. In any case, it is expensive at just shy of $600. None the less, I think the design is one of the nicest I have ever seen on a Karambit. They also make a flipper with the same thickness of steel....but the asking price of the knife is almost $1100. I can't justify that as much as I like it. I'll post a picture of it though.

This really is a beautiful knife and I have never seen anything like this before, the blade is just over 4" with double row caged ball bearings. He has a couple variants of really thick knives. I just don't know if I can justify the price....especially with the steel being 440C. And as nice as this flipper is, I can't EDC a $1100 knife. The karambit....that's a maybe, a BIG maybe. $600 for it is a pretty penny....and God forbid it gets taken away from me for any reason. I'm not going to be happy. I could get a damascus Sebenza for this kind of money. Ugh...thoughts?

Check out Bawidamann karambits. I think they are exactly what you're looking for.

Should I drop the $600 on this...or do you like the Mil Tac pictured in the first post better. I realize the Reese Weiland is only single edged, but damn it looks fantastic.
