Hello CRK fans, a friend of mine got this Mnandi used with only the Bday card and send me some pics about his latest acquisition.
I think something is wrong and this one could be a fake.
What do you think about it?

If nothing else... that does not look like bocote wood. Even so the birthdate doesn't match up with the "new styled clip"

Maybe because of the torx screws when only allen screws are used by CRK?

Thought 2002s would have the old style pocket clip. Card looks fine but mnandi looks a little off.

Maybe...could be nice if you all show to me the wrong thing so I could learn more :)

Thanks you to everybody

I hate to say it, but it would be easier to tell you what's right about that knife;

The birth card looks legit. Too bad you don't have the knife it originally came with.

It the policy of this forum to not go into details that would help someone make a better fake. Sorry....

There is no policy against providing details of fakes on this forum. It's just uncommon for most members to divulge information about them publicly.

This one would be a case of "Where do I begin....".

OP, I'm going to give you one very glaring tell. I knew you had a fake before I was halfway scrolled through the first pic, just by looking at the blade. Look how terrible that nail nick looks, it's not even lined up with the edge of the flat of the blade. For comparison, here's a pair genuine Mnandis.

There are so many things wrong with your friends knife, as LW said, it's easier to point out what's right. About the only right thing is the birthcard, which has already been mentioned.

IMHO, the best way to know and spot fake CRK's is to own real, genuine CRK's. Most of us who own CRK's and use them/collect them can (usually) spot the fakes and details right away. Once you own genuine CRK's, nothing else comes close.
