Is this multi tool any good?

While I have to say one gets what one pays for, several reviews on the web make it a worthy multi-tool, especially at a $12.00 or so price. Here's a review that may help you decide...

Thanks. that video helped a lot. Can anyone here who has used this tool tell me if that saw can actually cut anything (like wood)?

Other than a mediocre set of needle nose pliers I would imagine it is very lacking in the quality department. I would rather get an sak model with the pliers and saw.

Everything about the tool shouts cheap. The actual materials used feel and look very inferior. The design of every tool is sub par. Its big and clunky for no good reason. It's garbage. If anyone want's to buy one then go right ahead, but it's a complete waste of money. I literally would not even take one of these for free.

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade here I am just being honest and trying to save someone from wasting their money.

I have one of those somewhere. My question would be.....what kind of use will you have for it? Is it going to be something that sees light use and you don't want to spend a lot of money? If that's the case, why not? The one I have wasn't used a great deal but I had no issues with it when I did use it. Obviously, if you want the best of the best, that one isn't going to cut it. If you just want a basic multi-tool that you can use without spending a lot of money or worrying about breaking it, go for it. You've got nothing to lose and you can see how you feel about the tool yourself after you've used it for a bit. If you don't like it, you don't have a lot of money tied up in it and you can purchase something better.

About their quality I definitely agree, but there are people do have legitimate reasons for preferring them.
Some years ago I was browsing the multi-tool section of the Target camping gear aisle when I noticed a woman examining one of those cheapy offshore knockoffs, so I took it upon myself to gently nudge her into something better. She replied that all she really needed was a folding plier with some screwdrivers and this would do. Turns out she was an art teacher whose students did something that needed pliers and a few tools. She was buying a few replacements for her classes. Usually the tools disappeared before any of them ever broke, so quality was less of a concern than price.

If it works for someones needs then great. We are not talking about a teacher buying them for sticky handed kids though. I just personally would not ever touch one again. For very little more you can get a Leatherman Wingman or Sidekick which is a far superior tool. Well you used to be able to get them NIB for $20. Maybe a bit more now.

A teacher buying these for student's sounds kind of off since it has a knife blade. I'm not saying you are not telling the truth, but maybe the teacher did not think about it. As far as the teacher goes you can get a very decent set of pliers out of the $1 bin at hardware stores. I get them to take fishing. So for the $12 you spend on a single tool you could get 12 pairs of pliers. You could also find screwdrivers for the $1-$2 range as well. Another $12-$24 for 12-24 sets of drivers. So either two crap tools or 12 pliers and 12-24 sets of drivers.

Again i'm not saying anyone is right or wrong. If the tool appeals to you and you wan't to try it out then go for it. Its your money and you can do whatever you like. You may very well love the tool and only have $12 into it.

Well, as previously posted, she was looking for something that provided "pliers and a few tools" by which I suppose meant screwdrivers, saw, whatever else stuffed into the thing as well as knife. I don't know where she taught or to what age group, but I didn't assume it was children. It might have been college level or a privately sponsored adult program where these tools could be safely handled (or at least with liability limited.) Why she wanted to make available to her students all-in-one tools rather than separate dedicated tools I couldn't say. Five minutes in a store aisle doesn't allow enough time to get someone's complete biography :D .

Stanley just ain't so bad, generally. I often wind up buying a Stanley if I'm in the middle of an unexpected repair and hadn't planned on buying a nice tool to do it. If my car's broke down on the side of the road and I need to patch it together, I might go buy some Stanley stuff nearby to get the job done.

IMO, Stanley is of the grade of tool that will likely survive to be passed down to your children, but not your grandchildren, if that makes sense.

If you are speaking about their multitools I would have to disagree.
