Do any of you folks who own a 112 Ranger Sport have gaps this wide between the Lockbar and the frame?

Please don’t advise me to send it back. I already know I can send it back.

Is this normal for this model? I don’t want to send it back if this is just the way they are made.

Here is the knife and the picture below it shows the gaps.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I checked both my 110 and 112 sport model knives and they both have gaps.

110 not so much.
112 the gaps are larger, tho maybe not as noticeable as on yours.....?

I will say my 112 opens / closes more easily than my 110 that is actually quite stiff
I never noticed these before, but I'm happy with both. Especially the 112 because of it's action.

How's the action on yours?

I guess the gaps could be a concern if you were to use it field dressing animals while hunting, as stuff could more likely accumulate there.
......but it is a take apart knife so it could be more readily cleaned than a traditional 112.

I typically carry a fixed blade for that sort of work anyways.......

I'm not going to worry about mine.
🤔

Thanks for the feedback guys. I appreciate it.

Late last night I found an older post stating that the gaps might possibly be intentional.

The frame is Cerakoted and if the parts rubbed together, it might cause binding or other undesirable issues.

That makes sense to me.

The action on mine is pretty good. I wouldn’t call it smooth but it’s not rough either. I can open the blade using the thumb stud but I find myself being a little overly cautious about it. There is medium resistance when getting the blade started rolling but after I overcome that, it’s smooth from there. I get the same thing from other 112’s without thumb studs so I consider that perfectly normal.

I’m not going to worry about mine either. It functions fine and if any issues do arise, I can send it to Buck at that time. But I think it is going to be just fine. It’s a fantastic knife. Buck knocked these out of the park.

The one I had was like that. The 110 I had was like that too. You could always try snugging up the screws, but if the action’s good and it doesn’t have side to side play I wouldn’t bother.

Yes mine are like that, I would rather have a small gap than binding and rubbing anyway.
Me too. Thanks for replying.

The gaps look pretty wide when I hold it up to the light but they are barely noticeable without the light. I can slide a standard piece of printer paper in there but it’s a tight fit. I have a feeler gage in the garage but I haven’t bothered to dig it out and take a measurement.

When I first noticed them I was horrified but I had this gut feeling that they might be intentional. Then I found that older post where someone else thought they are intentional too and that set my mind at ease.

I bought this knife in person at a brick and mortar store. I didn’t notice the gaps then but that might be a good thing. I may not have bought it but I am very happy with the knife. I’m kind of glad I didn’t see the gaps in the store.

Thanks for the feedback. It has no side to side play and the action seems normal. Only a tiny bit of vertical play almost not worth mentioning.

Yeah the light really makes it look like it’s huge. Like you I didn’t notice at first and the action is not loose and only a microscope bit of side to side and no up and down they lock solid. I think they are fit like they should be to function properly.
