Is this normal for a storm?

Hi guys,
I have a kershaw storm that has developed exessive blade play, the blade just rattles around in the handle when you shake it back and forth. I have tried tightening the pivot but the play is still there (it just doesnt rattle). I just ignored it at first but it's getting steadily worse. The thing is that I had exchanged my first storm which had the same problem for this one so is it normal or do I just have extremely bad luck? Anyway I can fix it?

Definitely not normal. I always suggest tearing it all the way down. Tightening the pivot should fix the problem.... It sounds like you have a bigger issue. Check to see that your knife has both washers and that the lockbar is making proper contact. If you get a chance to check the stuff I mentioned report back in this thread and we will see if we can take it from there. Also, if you have a camera, pics would be most helpful. (inside of the picot area and the lock up on the lock bar)

Here are pics from all angles I could think of, (I know, It needs to be cleaned:o)

hope they help.

If it's up and down blade play, you have a lock problem.
You really need to get it back to Kershaw.
Your fingers will thank you. ;)

SV rides to the rescue. back to Kershaw with the Storm. Unfortunately these things happen every now and again. Hang in there they'll get you fixed up.

I'm just curious, but, did the first 2 you had come from the same retailer?

I had one before this, not two. They're both from wally world.:) I guess I'll send it in if I can't fix it up but I hate paying 1/3 the price of the knife in postage from Canada.:grumpy:

Oh, yup that sucks. However, sending it to Kershaw is definitely your best bet, but, you could take it back to Wally world and see if they will take it back. If so, then you can ask to handle all the potential replacements. Whatever you decide to do I wish you much luck in getting it resolved.:)

While you are at it get a Shallot. It is yet another amazing frame lock from Kershaw......:D
