Is this normal for XM's?

Hey, I received a new XM brand new in box. I never noticed this but a few milimeters before the edge the whole length of the knife, the stonewashing is "smoother" and more polished. Almost like this portion of the blade near the edge was buffed with the belt while they were sharpening it? Making there a more polished line running alongside the edge for whole length of the blade. It's really hard to capture on camera especially without natural light, and I'm pounded with snow right now in NY. I'll try to get pics up at some point. Thanks for your help!

Yup it's normal. Its just from Rick putting a final edge on it at the ranch. RDA explained this in another thread. Id link it but I can't find it. :)

Thanks guys. I'm not complaining, just never noticed on my other XM knives before. Thanks!

Echoing the other posts. Same on my slicer and the spanto I had was the same as well.

It's from the buffer when Rick makes sure there is no burr on the edge.
