Is this normal?

I have a small regular & a large classic Sebenza.

I have noticed on both of them, but especially the large, that the actual sharpened part of the grind is a different size on both sides of the blade.

what I mean is that the grind is futher up the hollow portion of one side of the blade than the other.

It is really obvious on the large but less so on the small as there is a lot less "sharpened bit" (that is the technical term in case you were wondering :D ) than on the large.

Your help is appreciated

On second thoughts, any chance of a pic? There aught not be more than a couple of mm difference in my experience. Perhas someone new is working at CRK's or its that hard to grind S30V stuff?;)

On the small (the large is at home) it is only a small difference, the ground edge is only aboit 1mm in the first place.

I will have a look at home tonight at the large.

Both are S30V

It could be that all my knives are like this but I just have not "looked at them with stary eyes for long enough" to see it :D

I know several people b!tch about certain production knives when they have uneven grind lines, stating poor QC. Sebenzas are supposed to have flawless QC according to most of the Sebenza lovers. Uneven grind lines on your Sebenza should be unacceptable for a knife of that calibre, so you decide if you will accept it or not.

Hand ground and sharpened my friend!

You might want to double check on that, but I'm pretty sure that only limited edition Sebenzas are hand ground and sharpened. Anyway, according to most people on the boards, uneven grind lines are a sign of poor QC, whether they were hand ground and sharpened or not.

It sounds like it is an uneven edge bevel, as an uneven blade grind would be pretty obvious. And unless there has been a change in CRK's production process all the knives are ground and sharpened by hand.

I do stand corrected on that. I thought only special limiteds were. Thanks for the info. Also, i do believe Bagman was referring to the edge bevel, not the primary grind since he mentions that the grind is only approx 1mm wide. This would most likely be the edge bevel. That's what I took it as referring to anyway.

It is the edge bevel that is uneven not the primary grind, sorry for my incorrect use of terminology.

I looked at the large at home last night and it is more obvious as the edge bevel is much bigger than on the small
