Hey guys. I just bought a new Benchmade Rift with a black coated blade. I was looking it over and I noticed that there is no coating on what would be the tang of the knife. Is this normal? Thanks

Thanks for the reply. It's my first knife with a coated blade. I figured it was normal, it just looks weird.

You get used to it eventually. Coldsteel's with the Tri-ad lock do this all the time.

But if it really bugs you, you're able to send it back to BM to have then re-coat it for ~25

Mine came like this. That's what I was asking, is it supposed to come this way. I thought from the factory it should be all black.

All coated folders are gonna do that. I've got things coated with tungsten carbide (about as tough as it gets) that have worn off the coating like that. It's normal.

As above - normal & good to go. You wouldn't want that junk in there riding against your lock right?
