I ordered a case red stag copperlock online and just got it today. I opened up the box and took the knife out and on one side of the handle the stag looks fine and just like the picture I saw of it. But on the other side the handle is a brown color and almost feels like wood. Does this just happen some times or is there something wrong with the knife. I ordered it from soonerstateknives.com

Hi usakr8, I think you'll need to upload your pics to a site like Image Shack or Photo Bucket first. It's straightforward enough :)

I find imgur.com is the fastest way since you don't need to sign up. If you want an actual album though photobucket would be better.

The colour of stag varies a lot because it's a natural material, but if you're not happy with the disparity I dare say you'll be able to get your knife exchanged :)

yeah i guess Ill just see if they can swap it. I knew the color varied but this just seemed a little extreme.

It IS a bit. Hope you get something you're happy with. Enjoy your knife :)

it definitely looks more textured on the darker/shield side, almost to the point of cut into an adolescent antler or having used a section next to the pith.

Were it up to me, I'd probably keep it if it were a user, exchange for a display model. my $.02

Looks like wood to me. Does that knife also come with wood handles? Maybe someone screwed up at the factory.

If I ordered stag, and paid for stag, I would DEMAND stag. If I were you I would contact the company and inquire. If it is wood I would demand a replacement. And they should pay all shipping costs. After all, it's their mistake not yours. And if they refused I would tell them that their company was going to get a lot of bad press on EVERY internet knife forum.

I demand to get what I paid for and I don't pay for other peoples mistakes.

I guess it could have been a mistake at the factory im not really sure. But Ill return it and hopefully everything will work out just fine.

It is not wood. No one jigs wood like that. Just a variation in the stag. It happens with natural materials, though this example is a bit extreme.

Case has excellent customer service. If you are not satisfied, contact them and see what they will do for you.
