Is this really useful or is it trying to do too much?

A friend of mine has one of their machetes, and it's ok, but nothing special. As far as this tool, I think it's made of 420 stainless, which, for a heavy duty tool, is pretty cheap material. I know Buck uses 420, but Condor doesn't have Paul Bos doing there heat-treat, so I don't think this 'utili-tool' is going to be that good.

For $20. more, you can get the Woodman's Pal. Much better product, IMHO. (You can find them online for less than $60.)

Whatcha gonna use it for? A hatchet isn't any different than a folding knife....match the tool to the job! I could lie and tell you that's why I have so many knives....but that ain't true....I just love 'em! You can bet I don't use a 300 Win Mag to hunt squirrels, and conversly don't use a .17 cal to hunt elk. Quality wise, I agree with the other guys, you can do better for a small amount more.

Generally, when you try to design a tool to do everything, you end up with a large, heavy, expensive chunk of metal, that does everything "half-arsed" and does nothing well.:thumbdn:

I am going to try one. I have looked them over at Sportsmans warehouse. I spend some of almost every day in the woods and love trying new and different stuff. I have their Aztec Cleaver and its a serious tool and does a lot of things well from the wilderness camp to the cafe kitchen.
