Today I found my screw in my BM AFCK turning into brown. This used to be balck I think. I wiped it with my tuf-glide but don't get any better. Anything I can do for this? Is this rust?

Flitz is amazing for shining up pretty much any metal. If that doesn't work, call Benchmade and ask for some replacement parts. Not sure if they will, but you can try.

Best,
Brett

Looks like rust to me, just hit it with a scotchbrite pad. Benchmade will definitely send out parts, I've gotten pocket clips and screws from them, and no charge. Very good customer service!

Looks like rust to me, too.
2nd the motion on the scotchbrite. See if you can get the "fine" grade.

Might I ask if the handles are carbon fiber or black G10?

you can also try contact cleaners.

that looks like black G10.

Yeah, looks like a bit of rust, take it out, polish up with a fine scotchbrite or even sandpaper and re-blacken it. I think they're stainless steel, so you may have to get creative if you want a black screw. Ferric Chloride will etch stainless and give it a black finish, just gotta be careful how long you leave it in a concentrated solution or it'll disolve the screw.

It's G10 handle. after polishing it, do you think that just painting it with a black marker would be fine?

Thanks for the answer. I asked because carbon fiber is hard on screws that penetrate it corrosion wise. But you got G10 so that's not an issue.

A black marker won't prevent more rust. It won't last well either.

I know that Benchmade is a long ways from you. I still think the best suggestion is to send them the photo with a request for a new screw.

An alternative is to find a supplier in Japan who makes a black oxide kit for stainless. There's one in the US, but I doubt they have a distributor in Japan and shipping chemicals between countries is a horrendous undertaking.

Thanks for your suggestions. I did ask Benchmade by email with a picture attached to it and they said they'll send me those screws. I love Benchmade.
