What gave it away? It sure looks real to my untrained eye.

Well I'm no expert.....but I found the exact same knife on a certain site famed for there chines copy's...

Yes very fake
Notice no hole in lockbar for detent. I think I seen the same one on ebay and they list the steel as D2. Pretty sure they never used D2 in a folder before.
I would stay away from the ebay when buying high end blades. Way too many scams out there. And some sellers don't even know they have a fake.

Real Striders definitely don't cost $50. If you want the real deal, buy from a reputable dealer, when you try and save a buck or two is when you usually get screwed over.

The Chinese seem to have access to a lot of D2.

Been curious about that... Are the steels they list really what they use? Has anyone ever verified that? I've seen pics of the Hinderer rip-offs that have "CTS-\HP" (mis-print of "CTS-XHP"?), but then descriptions saying anything from 5Cr to 440C to D2 to S35VN for the blade steel. Who knows what you're actually getting if you have the misfortune of picking up one of these.

Just add to your first thread rather than start a new one. Also if you buy from a reputable dealer you won't have to worry about fakes.

It looks legit to me I can't find any thing wrong with it, other than the very brief description.....

We had three threads going on within the last few hours. I merged them all into one. ;)

I believe a member that actually lives in China (and knows more than the average bear) spoke up about their steel availability. If I remember correctly D2 is easy to come by, but they have trouble sourcing it in thin stock. I believe that's partly why they tend to knock off knives that feature thick blades to begin with. I've read that the D2 that some people (here) have been getting on their knives is pretty good. The ti too. I just don't have any knives in D2 to compare one to if I did buy the Chinese knife.

As a side note, I think there are some really nice ti frame lock D2 knives going for around $80 that aren't knock offs, but proprietary designs.
