Is this the golden age of khukuris?

It seems to me that we live in a great time for khukuris. There is a large demand for them, many styles are emerging, Uncle Bill spreads wonderful khuks around the world for a modest price. We might not have Wootz steel and maoists are causing problems, but I still think that modern day khuks are some of the finest ever produced. The kamis have thousands of years of accumulated wisdom and experience handed down from generation to generation. Times are well... khuk-tastic!

Im not so sure about music, lately i've been driven to talk radio. :(

Oh.. I never listen to the radio except public radio some. Yeah, probably on commercial stations not too good.

However the actual music being put out is better IMO. I thought CD's and digital revolution would RESTRICT the number of off beat artists who could make it, but it seems to have greatly increased the number. Plus the influence of world music in all music now has resulted in some great stuff like Ry Cooder and Ali Farka Toure's Talking Timbuktu album, Cornershop's albums, and a host of others. I was at a music festival a couple weeks ago and saw Del Mc Coury (Bluegrass) Carl Denison(jazz) Ozzric Tentacles Prog rock, Burning Spear (reggae) all on the same stage. And the audience appreciated them all! The level of musical sophistication of audiences anymore really amazes me.

We are lucky at this time there are stil men making decent knives. Anything hand built in a hundred years will be worth a fortune.

It is always the Golden Age for something.

Stay tuned in to that glowing screen in front of your face, Jebadiah_Smith; I feel that you are in for a soon to materialize treat. We'll be having some very special items coming from the kamis themselves, H.I. has been blessing us with some of their best deals historically, and there are some fine points concerning the khukuries themselves which are being worked out.

Besides Johnny Cash, The Doors, Led Zeppelin and Lou Reed, you probably like khukuries, and if so, you've come to the right place. Most of us listen to Twisted Sister, The Dead Kennedy's, and Janet Jackson, but you're welcome to your own musical proclivities...

Stick around, you'll find most of us to be quite hospitable... Enjoy!

You guys are all very friendly and welcoming. I figured I should make a more serious post to make up for the mongolian death worm post, which actually got much more response then I would have expected.

cool - everybody that has posted to this thread has their little "green light" on.....except for munk. :p

WELCOME TO THE CANTINA JEB! If it hasn't been said already. :footinmou  Hi Dan AND ALL!!!!! :D

Dan,

you realize what you're saying? When the green lights are aligned with Mars, we will take Manhatten, then we take Berlin.

Do you have Cash's American Recordings? Killer

Also June Carter Cash's last album of Classic Carter family tunes is really good. It's got Marty Stuart and Norman and Nancy Blake setting in.

Congrats on the gold status. I would like to become a paying member but then I think I would start sending money to PBS and televangelists  . I think that bladeforums is a more worthy cause.
