I posted this on Jerzee Devil

An old friend of the family stopped by my fathers shop last night, and he and my father talked for a good while. This guy is a helluva person. He has lived on the street, and offered to give you the shirt off of his back if you were in need. Really nice guy, very talented pinstripe artist, known all over the country, but does not have an ego. I wouldn't go so far as to call him a flower child, or a hippy. I remember him stopping by my fathers shop when I was a kid, and him doing all kinds of wild work on cars. He asked about my parents, my siblings and I. My father mentioned that I was into knives. He mentioned a knife maker that he said was famous, that he learned pinstriping under...

Anyway, when he was a kid, he bummed around the country, learning from different pinstripers. One pinstriper he came across dabbled in knifemaking, then pretty much put pinstriping on the back burner, and did mainly knives. I have this guys email, and will contact him, just to catch up, but to also find out what maker he was talking about. My father couldn't remember the name. Was wondering if anyone knew of a famous knifemaker that was a pinstriper too. Supposedly, the maker passed away, and some people came to my fathers friend wanting to know if he had any of his knives. Big Sothebys sale etc after the guy died.

Small world whatever the case may be.

Then found this http://www.letterhead.com/articles/bob_burns/vondutch/. Pretty cool if this is the guy my fathers friend was talking about. Any info on his knives? Or anything else for that matter?
