Is this the right place to introduce myself?

Hello everyone. My name is Dave and I just wanted to introduce myself. I've lurked for a while and am just now deciding to jump in. I am a new knife maker and am in need of some constructive criticism and encouraging words. As I have been lurking here I have determined that Blade Forums is a pretty down-to-earth bunch and an invaluable source of knowledge and information. It is my fondest hope that I can contribute in some way. Can someone advise me as to the protocol for posting pictures of my work? Thanks for being here so I have a place to go for some knife related camaraderie.

As long as you are not advertising it for sale (for which you would need a Gold or better membership), the Gallery is a good place to post pictures. For a more peer-based critique type forum, you can post in the Knife-makers sections or perhaps the Custom forum... Look around and get a feel for where you think you work is best suited.

Welcome to BF. As Markksr has suggested, the gallery is a good place to show off your work. Have a good look around the forum at the different areas, the names of the sub forums are mostly self explanatory. They usually have a sticky at the top to tell you what the area is for and what you should and shouldn't do and stuff like that.

If you wish to sell knives you will need a gold membership. You can also get a knifemaker membership if you wish.

Get yourself over to the knifemaker sub forum, you'll find plenty of helpful people there.

Greetings! With the approach you took in your post, you will be acquiring many new friends very soon. Welcome to Blade Forums. It will be great to learn from you.

Welcome to BF!

I look forward to seeing your work. As has been mentioned, the Gallery is the place to show off your work. You might want to consider getting a knife makers membership at some point.
