a friend of mine sent me a link called "15 future weapons that will certainly make a mess"

the 2nd weapon is the spyderco warrior. the write up on it said

"this particular weapon made the list for one specific reason. According to a representative of Spyderco – the company that created it – the serrations on the inner edge were designed with one thing in mind – beheading."

link here if interested

i was under the impression that the serrations were used for trapping your opponents arm. maybe the author stretched the truth a tad? :D

I heard it was more for trapping limbs, also the spyderco version was made with utility in mind, serration wise that is.

Since when did you have to get the whole head off just to kill someone? The author is smoking something.

Thats not stretching the truth...thats making stuff up! I seriously doubt the Spyderco rep was speaking on Mr. Glessers behalf.

My info is distinctly second hand, but I heard that the Spyderco rep stated that the serrations were made for sentry removal, sneaking up and slitting throats, and the reporter decided slitting throats was synonymous with decapitation.

Silly. Spyderco didn't even create the design, they adapted a well-known combat knife to more utilitarian purposes.

But these are the kind of stories we get when the reporters don't know anything about knives.

It goes back to this story posted on WIRED after SHOT last year. IIRC, what Kristi actually said was that Spyderco made it for the IDF, who wanted it for sentry de-animation, rather than decapitation.

So your telling me you guys didnt know that the Spyderco Ladybugs sole purpose was cutting off pinky fingers?

Get with the times!

Awww shux...I already wanted one. But i already got one. Now, though...i'm trying to think of some excuse to get the black one too.
