No. There are plenty of Tortoise Shell knives out there. Sometimes imitation sometime real.

Its definitley not wrong but I'm pretty sure the ocean going Hawkbill turtles
that tortoise shell comes from are protected. Snappers? theres usually seasons
and min._max. size limits on them. If I knew what snapping turtle shells looked
like I might be out there right now.
