Is Thuya Burl completely discontinued? Or just on a break of sorts?

Thanks for continuing to answer my seemingly non-stop questions.

I can see by searching the board that CRK isn't offering Thuya Burl as an option for order right now, but I see conflicting information. Some say that they're still producing it, just not taking it for order. Others are saying its completely discontinued.

If it is discontinued, why is that the case? Any evidence or just a hunch?

More importantly, is it reasonable to infer that the Thuya Burl stock currently on shelves is that last of what we will see at retail? So I should probably stop waiting for a new shipment to come in?

Discontinued for lack or available wood. Thuya takes years to stabilize, so there's not a lot on supplier shelves. If you want one, and see one you like, better go ahead and get it.

Some of my research on the topic last year revealed that in the recent past due to environmental concerns, when inspected for parasites or other bugs foreign to the US, any imported woods such as Thuya burl with such bugs would have the entire shipment not sent back overseas but instead incinerated- to eliminate the threat of transferring an aggressive species, of course.

It's stunning wood, don't wait too long if that's your choice. This one was ordered from CRK,

On the topic of Thuya, FWIW Kayla told me Thuya was notably hard to fit, though we didn’t discuss why. I have no idea if that played a supplementary role in its discontinuation. From the tone of our discussion I got the impression there is no present plan to bring it back into production.

I personally like Thuya in that it tends to have a lot of variety in grain structure between samples. Ajack60 Ajack60 , yours looks smoky and dark. Really cool. Mine is less dramatic, but has a little bit of everything. I was after one that was all eyes, but couldn’t pass this up.

I just snagged a Thuya Mnandi from DLT. I did some shopping around online and I believe they had the only plain blade Thuya Mnandis left.

I was on the fence for a Box Elder Mnandi, but when I saw Thuya was being discontinued decided to try one.
