Is your Seb your "beater", or does Something else fit that need?

I tend to carry a SAK with me for some messy jobs as I'm less inclined to use my Seb for some tasks. In the past, I've used my Seb for drywall work, scoring the sheets. Many a time, the blade made contact with the cement below the sheet. After that, I started carrying one of my Spydies to take on more abusive jobs. What do you guys do?

I just got my sebbie about 2 weeks ago...
It is my EDC, However i do not abuse my tools / knives.... But this knife was built to use and is easy to clean..
I use it for the following and have carried nothing else...
-Packaging and plastic straps
-caulk tubes
-Wood
-Cardboard
-chopping wood... marshmallow sticks of course
-food prep

I guess the point is i will use it for everything.... Even dry wall which i have done in the past.....
I simply will not... pry, or cut materials harder than plastic or wood....
But all in all.... It is my beater.... But i do use the proper tool for the job..... Which most of the time is my knife....

I don't beat any of my knives, even the really cheap ones.

qpf, why not use a box cutter for drywall?

Normally, I had but it had become misplaced during the moving of some sheets and I figured it wouldn't hurt too much. Truth is, it wouldn't have hurt, had the knife not gone all the way through a few times.

Sebenza is best EDC but I'd rather beat up something like a CRK Shadow III. My new Emerson CQC7 Mini seems to be a good "beater".

I carry it. I use it. If I need to cut drywall, I use it to cut drywall. I've had to spend some time at night taking out flats when I dinged the blade. This is what I bought it for.

I will say I am probably more selective about what I cut with a Sebbie than I would be with a bubble-pack folder . . .

If I know I will be cutting against steel (like cutting roots off the tiller tines) I carry my SOG Flash II. It is easy to sharpen and saves the Seb and Strider from extra sharpening sessions...

I carry a G10 caly 3 for most knife chores.I carry a large sebenza at times also.

I usually only carry one knife so that one's gotta do whatever needs to be done. This past weekend my small Sebbie cleaned out last year's leftovers from the veggie boxes out back and planted some tomato plants.

She needed a good cleaning afterwards, but the disassembly and cleaning only took about 10 minutes and now she's all smooth and pretty and sharp again. Today, she'll do whatever needs to be done in the warehouse where I work.

I use my Seb for just about everything. It's the only knife I carry so it does all my cutting tasks, it's pretty beat up but I don't mind. It still works great! I do carry a Prybaby for, you guessed it, prying. The Sebenza gets used for everything else.

I admit that I don't usually have a need for hard use knife. I carry my fancy sebs during the week and do it because they are sort of "dress" knives for me in a mostly office environment. I also carry them on the weekends when I'm a home warrior but also carry a user Spyderco such as a Manix or Delica if I need to whack a stray limb or scrape some mung off my BBQ grill.

But, if I could choose only one to carry for everything it would be a Sebenza and I'd use it for everything.....but, I don't have to in reality.

I use my plain regular Sebenza as a EDC and it gets used outside in the garden and in the house cutting up boxes, etc. If I think I might be doing something that will chip the blade or possibly permanently damage it then I usually switch to a fixed blade. My custom Lochsa gets the same treatment as the Sebenza. The handles are all scratched up but that's how I like it.
