Just wondering, I know Mr. Reeve says no but I am sure some people's sebbies are. Has it affected your lock up or anything else on the knife if so? Thanks

Now I get it. Not a "worry bead" but I do open and close my LG 21 micarta insingo more then any other knife while I carry it. Which is everyday.

I stroke the titanium a bit and place it on my laptop at work to periodically admire. But I don't constantly open and close it if that is what you mean.

If your term "worry bead" means that constantly flicking it open, as in hundreds of time per day, then I would suggest asking jdavis882 of YouTube. He does this all (nearly) of the time. IIRC, he said on YouTube that the lockup on his multiple Sebbies has never been affected. He also demonstrates a method of "changing" the lockup from later to earlier, by loosening the scale screws, applying opposite torque to the scales and then tightening the screws while scales are still torqued in opposite directions.

Yes, I am going to send him a PM today. I remember him saying that about his sebenzas and striders. Thanks

have to check my edc/test small 21, been carrying 99% of the time since I got it on the 8th of august +-, most time in pocket, often times in the pocket slip
seems to be the same, lightly sticky lock that has remained the same, handles have faint scratches
will open it to relube in a while, will check if it has marks or whatsoever, no flicking at all, only hand openings

I admit to playing with my small Insingo quite a bit. I've found that with my 2005 small Classic it only gets smoother with time. Can't even imagine me ever wearing out a Sebenza in my lifetime (I'm currently 49).

Hey brother, my regular carry (large plain 21) has been opened at least 10k times now, and it has literally had zero effect. That number could be even higher, but 55 openings per day for 6 months sounds about right.

I say open and close it at your leisure. Don't wrist flick the dog hell out of it and you should be ok. A light thumb flick with zero wrist action is going to damage absolutely nothing. :)

Thanks for the help. I was going to PM yesterday but didn't get to it. Sounds good, I just didn't want to have to worry about opening it too much. I am going to be getting a Large Micarta in a couple months hopefully then.

I do find that I open my Sebenzas quite a bit more than absolutely necessary. Good to know that it's not going to wear anything out. My small 21, which I bought new, seems to be getting smoother and sweeter to operate with use. My large 21 was lightly used when I got it and it seems to be consistently perfect in it's smoothness. I don't carry anything else any more, despite my preference for fancier steels.

I dont do that with my Sebbie at all. I might open and close it a few times when I take it out to admire it, but it doesn't go any farther than that. I'd be more apt to flick open and close a para 2 or griptilian repetitively out of boredom but definitely not like it was a worry bead (an never for an extensive amount of time).

My Mnandi is a worry bead of sorts. I don't open and close it, but I twirl it around through my fingers like some folks do with Zippo lighters.
