I just received my spec elite ll a few days ago which is supposed to have a 5" blade, and I quickly discovered its missing 1/8" of length. Is this common for these knives, or should I send it in for a new blade? I payed a good amount of money for 5" of vg10 steel so I feel slightly shorted...

vg-10 your correct. My mistake. Are you measuring from the tip of the blade to the handle? or the tip of the blade to where the bevel starts?

definitely a spec elite ll vg10 from tip to the handle not bevel, there is no way the blade is a full 5". I wouldn't really mind 1/16" or less difference, but 1/8" seems excessive, and there is certainly room left in the handle for more blade.

Are you sure?
1/8 is quite a bit!!
Is it a 2nd or "defect knife"?
Is it maybe a pirated knife? I have seen other knives that were pirated and the specs are usually off like this.
I was looking at them and planned to get one, but will wait now or maybe look for something else.

Imagine the amount of steel "saved" just by cutting back a bit.
How about the thickness, is it "as advertised"?
THANK YOU for the heads up!!

Just measured again to make sure, this time I marked the end of the handle in pencil on the blade, then took the knife apart, and it is still at least 1/8th of an inch short no matter how I measure. The knife was purchased brand new from an online store, and everything about it including the box and paperwork indicate it is genuine. I'm giving sog a call today.
