Is ZT ever going to make something even similar to the 0780 in the future?

I know they killed it off (I actually got one), but I'd absolutely love to see another long-skinny blade from ZT sometime. I loved that knife, but I'd seriously love to know if ZT (or even Kershaw) has any plans for something in the same ball-park in the future.

Well still a beast of a knife but how about the 600? It's a bit slimmer than you average ZT.

Zt seems to be showing that they are broadening their range of knives to more than simply the tactical knives. It won't be rhis year but I would think that it is only a matter of time until we see something along those lines again. In the meantime check out the piston, its a long skinny knife.

The 0801 doesn't really look like a tactical knife to me. And there is the possibility that it releases this year. Not sure though. Although I do understand the 0801 isn't as slim as the 0780.

I wanted the 0780 so badly. I am a sucker for clip point knives.

I just want them to make some sort of clip point. Like maybe a clip point Hinderer design, like a ZT 0560 clip point or something.

I would love to see something like the 0780 as well. I got started with the knife mania because of the old G-10 Wild Wild Turkey, and i kind of see the 0780 as the G-10 WWT on steroids...

I'll just leave this here.

One thing I'm pretty sure of is that the big knife manufacturers keep an eye on what each other are doing. I doubt the excitement and interest in the Southard is being lost on ZT. Hopefully it's only a matter of time before ZT heads back in the direction of designing narrower, lighter folders instead of more what I affectionately refer to as "pocket bricks". ;)

PS: The 0780 weighs in at 3.6 oz. That's almost half an ounce less than a Southard and positively anorexic by ZT standards. And that's with thick steel liners, a solid black back spacer, and textured G-10 scales. Has ZT ever made a lighter folder than the 0780? And can you imagine it with Ti liners, standoffs instead of a spacer, and CF scales? Oh baby, SIGN ME UP!!! :)

I think it is the lightest. The only one close would be the 0750 talon.

I am on the opposite side of the wish list. I want Benchmade to make a few blades like the 30x and 56x. I want more blade, both wider and thicker in an axis lock. ZT and BM need to form a spinoff company that combines the best of each into hybrid models. I would be willing to run the company for them.

Don't get me wrong, I love the big fat blades on a great many of ZTs out there, but the 0780 was just different enough that it stood out among other ZTs (and other knives in all honesty).

Here's my old one (sold it because I was getting too tempted to strip the coating off of everything and grind the back-side saw-tooth jimping off of it and when KAI killed it off, I figured it was going to be too rare for me to screw with it):

I emailed KAI to tell them I liked it. You should too if you really would buy it. They listen to their customers.

The reason I love my 0780 is because it has such a narrow profile, it creates less drag when cutting. It is one of my favorite knives of all time, but I hardly use it because it is now sort of a collector's item.
