Isabell vs. my BAS

I spent the last two days before Isabell putting a convex edge on my BAS thanks to Kurt Maloney sending me a copy of Pendentive's convex edge CD. I only went to 1500 grit and did it by hand but this thing will shave hair. The horn handle has been roughed up, as has the blade. The buttcap has been sanded flush with the handle.
Now here comes Isabell, trees are down everywhere, I haven't had school in a week. Not much heavy stuff in my yard so I go right to the neighbor's, a women alone whose husband is gone getting her son from Parris Island, and there is a very large section of a tree top. It takes a while to get through the center of it when I have to, but it can be done. What should have required a chainsaw can be done with a 15" kukri. Chalk one up for the BAS.
The house beside that one, an older guy named Bill lives in it, had the entire back lawn trashed. That's really tragic because the back lawn, which faces mine, was like the garden of eden. Bill cuts the big stuff with a chainsaw, Sarge -now back from getting his kid-, hauls the stuff out front, while I limb it and chop it down to size before tossing it into a pile. That's two for the BAS.
In my own yard, there are some branches dangling from a tree, my brother climbs up the tree and takes the limbs down with the BAS.
The woods near my house are trashed, so I go out and clear the trails with my new favorite kukri. That allows me to bring debris out to the woods and dump in there rather than wait for the trash people to come. What do you guys think? Has my BAS finally earned that quickdraw sheath I've been promising it?

By all means get that Quickdraw sheath.
You never know when you may come across a nasty hanging branch looking for a fight.

Practice your quick draw in the mirror.
When you can beat yourself to the draw, you are ready to take on any branch that may challenge you.

Sounds like fun. The best thing about these khuks is they don't leak bar oil and gas all over the place!

I sanded down a couple of my horn handles too, and like them alot better. 600 grit still left them too shiny, so I did them again with #400 and that is about perfect IMHO.

That is the funniest thing I've read in a long time:D :D

Skeletor-- the BAS is a real workhorse. My first khukuri was a BAS by Sher, and it's still one of my favorites. It might take a little longer, but it will do most anything the larger khukuris can.

Edge held up real well. My handle was sanded with 500 grit along the length of the handle, still looks black but without the shine and has a better grip.
