LOL! I just noticed the blob of Renaissance Wax in top grind in the bottom picture! I probably should have wiped that off before I took the picture... :barf:

It has a very high quality look. I am not a huge fan of upswept blades so I find that I would prefer a different style to this one. What are your plans for future projects?

Thanks people!

KWM- I have a few designs for smaller knives about half way through production right now (Ted has finished the blanks)- fighters and tacticals mostly, but I also have a small camp knife in the works. I've also designed a folder that a well respected maker (can't say who just yet) will be doing in the near future. It will be a short run of 20 to 30 probably. I'm VERY excited about that one!!

I'm a sucker for the Persian-style blades! Great knife!!!

If your folder is anything like this bad boy, I'm in........:D

I like your "modern" version of a Jambija!

My sole criticism relates to the angular looking handle scales.

Thanks for the comments! Horus- I'm glad you brought up the angular looking handle. I usually try to make my handles very organic and "soft" looking. With this one, I was digging the play between steel and handle, with the cut-out areas on both ends showing steel. The original drawings showed more rounded edges, but I wanted to use the soft curves with sharp-looking edges together. It actually is very cofortable in the hand because the top ridge of the handle is radiused to the palm, while the bottom side is more defined. Anyway, thanks for the constructive comments!

FYI- here is a link to more pics: http://www.dervishknives.com/knives.htm

Love it! Very stand-out and beautiful. The sheath looks really fantastic too; it looks like you really put a lot of thought and skill into it.

I agree with Horus; the scales look square. I can imagine what you're talking about, though, on how the feel.

Very slick looking piece. Ditto on the handle scales. One of my personal worries is the blasted finish on 5160 and rust, even after an etch. Would a GunKote type finish be more effective ? Jason.

Keith, if it lost the Persian upsweep, I have a feeling it wouldn't be the "Ishtar" model anymore. :)

i have a lot of beadblasted 5160 my this maker it okay when laying around but once i handle them no good. what i can i use tried renn wax, oil

Very curvy! Sounds like you have some very interesting things to look out for.
