Isle Royale - any tips or info appreciated

A friend of mine has been working on a plan for us to backpack the length of Isle Royale late next summer. I haven't contributed much, but he's met some folks who've been there and so far I think the plan is: wait until flies/bugs aren't so bad, fly in, hike the northernmost trail in about 5 days, fly out.

Anyone here been there? Any photos? Any tips?

A friend of mine planned a trip to Isle Royale for some kind of class he had back in college. He never actually went on the trip although we've talked about it before. Still something I'd really like to do.

So unfortunately I've got nothing to add, other than to say this sounds very cool and I'm looking forward to what other have to say.
