Isn't it awesome when knife companies do this?

This type of stuff is SOOOO simply to do and is almost always overlooked by most companies out there. It's stuff like this that builds customers for life. Very cool on the RAT one.

RAT and SPYDERCO have their customer support values in the right order!

While I never had to return a Cold Steel product for a defective knife there was a defective sheath. Cold Steel sent me a new model upgraded sheath after over a year had passed and additionally at "no" cost to me!

Also BUCK replaced a new defective knife free of all shipping charges!

When a product slips through quality control and gets to the customer with any defect the company should "make it right" with the customer and the customer should "not" incur any other charges shipping or otherwise.

KA-BAR should take heed of the above companies customer policies.

I do love hearing these types of stories, and they tend to make me a customer for life. I love supporting companies who have this level of customer service.

Some companies go above and beyond and it's nice to hear these types of stories.

It is always really cool when people go above and beyond what they are asked to do, going that extra mile like throwing an another izula in there, make a customer, into a customer for life, thats just an awesome thing to hear. to Rat and  to Spyderco!

You can add scrapyard knives to the list of companies with amazing customer service. They recently rehandled an entire knife for me, sharpened it up (unasked) and took the time to re-tie my lanyard to the new handle. Amazing stuff.

It's not just "production" companies. In the past year Chris Reeves has made "new" a knife I bought from him in 1988 and used on a couple deployments, WD Pease completely rejuvinated my favorite little fixed blade (which has seen everything from critters to wrapping paper), and Tim Zowada restored a not so well taken care of Bowie I picked up. Kudos to everyone who stands behind their work!

Victorinox has been good to me. I had small key ring SAK with pencil. The pencil ran out ink after first line. I sent it to free maitenance. They apologized for not being able to fix that knife and sent me new one, that has been working like a charm.

Leatherman service was good. No feeds of anykind when I had myp ulse fixed. Not only they fixed my pulse ( I had chipped a screw driver head ) they also re-sharpened my blade and scissors and made fully maintenace aswell.

I've also heard a lot good from Kershaw (I got 6 Kershaw and #7 is in mail ) but I haven't yet needed to use their customers service. But a lot folks who have used have praised Kershaws customer's service.

I have a ZT 0301, a few months ago I wanted to move the clip from tip down to tip up, unscrewed the screws of the clip but one stripped and had to remove it with pliers damaging it and scratching the clip, the handle screws were very soft too.

asked kershaw to have a new clip and 3-4 clip screws along with 4 handle ones (3+one spare) as the used ones were probably tempered too soft (defective batch?)

after 20 days ( I'm in Italy) i got 3 clips, 3 sets of clip screws and 3 sets of handle screws!!! that was amazing, along with a kind employee that listend to my suggestions and comments

thumbs up!!!

The thing is we always hear the bad stories and the bad experiences not just about knives but about most things in general, we dont hear enough about the good people doing good stuff out there because its not news worthy!

I've had great customer service from Spyderco, and have heard great things about RAT. Par for the course for both of these great companies.

I haven't had any issues with any of my knives as yet as I am relatively new to collecting quality knives though I have carried something or another most of my life. That being said I hope companies who read these forums take heed that a huge part of my decision making as a consumer is based on the good reports of customer service from some of these great companies that I have read on these forums. These companies that stand behind their products and provide good service and support have gotten my business because of it and will continue to do so specifically because of what I read on this forum. Likewise, I have chosen not to patronize some companies specifically because of this forum and the reports of bad service.

I haven't had a bad experience yet. Spyderco and Kershaw both have provided me with awesome Customer Service. And I'm also including some great vendors in my thanks. Poor Fish and Cutlery Shoppe also treated me like I was their best customer. So far, I've been lucky enough to do business with some good folks.

I screwed up the kydex sheath for my RAT RC4 and they sent me one for free and that has made me a customer for life.

These things are indeed good to see, and great to have dropped on you as well. ;)

This little gem landed on the table at work when I wasn't looking.
