Isn't the B/M 950 Rift a Black Class knife?

I just picked up a B/M 950 Rift on a trade (Great knife, BTW!) & was surprised when it showed up in a Blue Class box. B/M's internet catalog shows it as a Black Class, but the Blue class box read correctly, stating a 950 Rift was in it.

I'm wondering if anyone else who has one has had the same issue (If you've noticed it) or is mine just different?

Anyways, just curious & wondering if others have had the same thing happen to them. Other than the box color, which really isn't an issue (I REALLY like the knife), this knife is great.

It's a black class. I almost bought one at a gun show, and the dealer showed me a new in box one, and he pulled out a black class box with 950 RIFT on the end, and pulled it out for me to see. That's a bit of a mixup i guess.

When I get a Benchmade in the mail I usually go through the box and have the knife in the hand so fast I have no time to notice the color.

The rift is a black class knife, and Ive heard of people getting their rifts in blue class boxes. You are not alone.

I got mine in a black box. Also under the clip they put a small plastic tag telling "axis lock". The knife is put inside a transparent plastic bag and the whole inside a black pouche and after that inside the black box.

I remember BM forum messages that early Rifts were in blue. My was in black box (end of May).

Thank you & that makes sense. Well, B/M's mistake doesn't, but that early ones were in blue boxes. I got the knife from a friend (On the Forum) & love it. I don't mind the blue box or if it was a Blue class knife, but I just remember drooling at it in B/M's website & it clearly states it's a Black class knife.

Thanks all for the responses.

I work in a cutlery shop that deals in a fair number of benchmades. Only one thing is constant with them box colors aren't always right. Now don't get me wrong usually they are squared away but sometimes random knives will ship in the wrong color box. Usually that tends to be black class coming in blue class boxes but sometimes the other way around. I hope that clears it up for you.

I purchased two Rifts as soon as they were available for sale and both came in a "blue" box.
