OK everyone, there's way too many Swamp Rat threads in the Busse Combat sub forum!

Any suggestions on how we fix this problem?

I got smacked when I suggested they post here, so I'm not the best person for the job. I just think Swamp Rat threads belong in the Swamp Rat forum, am I wrong?

Heck, no ... you're not.

I tend to be rather undisciplined on the Web, though. I just post it where I happen to be.:(

I'd love to see more activity in the Swamp Rat sub-forum.

I tend to be drawn to the SRKW designs more than the Busse Combat designs. I think SRKW stands on its own and deserves to have its community discussions here,in its own sub-forum. Selfishly, it would also make it easier for me to find all the posts about the knives i love.

I have to admit that i get a strange enjoyment from reading and posting about these knives. I always come to this sub-forum to see whats new and I'd love to see more content here.

I read this thread as a request for me to post as much as possible about my lovely RATs. I am currently in the process of learning to make Kydex sheaths, so i will read this as a solicitation for many posts and pics of this process :D.

there will be more activitie over there for 2 reasons, A) they are releasing at a much faster pace then the Swamp line, and Swamprat has it's own forum where most of their traffic goes. It is hard keeping up with all the different forums these days

I don't think any "smack" was intended.

This is the Swamp Rat forum and yes, we need to try and direct people to this forum when/where appropriate but we also must remember that most of the time newbies are extremely confused by what we find commonplace (ie, Company Store x 2, Busse, Swamp Rat, Scrapyard, For Sale forums, etc)

So I think the best way to answer a newbie's question is to answer it, yet point out that there is a Swamp Rat forum on Bladeforums. Not only do we have our own forum here we are actually much nicer and sell better knives than those mean, dirty HOG's ;)

It is also tough (and I see this more now than ever) because the internet(email, forums, etc) are very impersonal and hard to really determine what someone's mood, vocal inflections are. Benign comments are easily taken out of context. So what do we do about this, the easiest thing to do is to try and remember that we are all hear for the same reason, we like knives (specifically Busse Kin knives). Because of this common interest try to not get upset if someone says something that you don't like, it may not have been intended the way it comes across in written form. Answer the questions and try to make everyone feel as welcome as possible. (and if that doesn't work use the ignore function ;) )

Not all of these comments are in regards to your question Dwayne, just a few things that are good for all of us to remember, me especially. I often type up a scathing comment and then before I post it I delete the entire thing, walk away and start from scratch a few hours later ;) My second answer is always better than the one I had originally typed.

agreed 100%

My intent on "that" thread was just that, a "congrats" and a "hey, there's a sub forum here with Swamp Rat"

All I can figure is that it was mis interpreted and therefore the misunderstanding.

Thats not my point though

I counted five active threads about Swamp Rat knives in the Busse fourm, none by new posters. Is there a way to direct them here without incurring problems? One in particular said he would have posted it here but he somehow knew that he would get more responses there.

No worries though, I just see a problem (or my personal issue) that I see should be addressed or at least discussed.

Should the Swamp Rat forum and the Busse forum be consolidated?

I vote no,

Now, if you could just put that in practice when you send my those Bullying PMs!:p (I keed. I keed!!)

Yep, it is confusing for newbies but I think the old shop days of "if you call Busse and ask about a Swamp Rat, we'll cancel your order..." Well, I think those are all done. One big happy family, even if we are much better looking than the HOGs.

,

Well we will stay as separate forums because we are separate companies, related but separate.
One way to get people to post in the correct forum is to keep this forum active so people know it is here and feel like their thread will be seen and answered. The other is just to remind them that this forum is read and questions answered, but we may not be as vocal. ( we just need less words to get our point across, ;) )

No worries, things go in trends, this is just one of them.

Good points. It's bigger now, and changing all the time... And the 3 companies are now being referred to as "The Busse Fsmily Group" on T-shirts and such. Whether one likes it or not, there's going to be some crossover threads between the three. Is anyone going to give Jerry static for posting ScrapYard related vids in the Busse forum? I think not! ;):D Seems that a little tolerance is needed as we all are here to enjoy and talk about the knives from the Busse Family Group.

I also don't think that the 2 forums here need to be combined...but as long as I've been around, the Busse forum always had more traffic. To me, it's like the front door into the world of Busse. :)

Some VERY good points raised here! Thanks to everyone! :D :D :D

This is exactly what I wanted this thread to be, a true discussion on the topic, not a dogpile or ragfest. I do remember that quote about getting your order canceled if you called the Busse shop about Swamp Rat, Jerry sure seemed adamant at the time to keep them separate. Times change and so do companies.

Thank y'all!! :)

I see your point Leatherman! However, I am way too passive to suggest a plan of action. I am going to have a few beers and then contribute something productive! Don't worry about the comments over at the trough man. People seem to be very sensitive in September. Maybe its the changing of the seasons :p

Of course you can also report threads you think should be moved. I will be happy to move threads when appropriate to do so.

I'm hesitant to move every thread, especially when there is good on topic discussion that has already taken place, moving them at that point seems counter productive

I'm all for combining forums. I buy from all three companies. I want to read about all three in one place. Navigating between he different forums and the Exchange is an unnecessary PITA.

All we need are...
Busse / Swamp Rat / Scrapyard Knives
Busse / Swamp Rat / Scrapyard Knives For Sale

... with direct links TO and FROM each so we can switch back and forth quickly.

Wow...and I thought that I was lazy!! ;) :D:D (LOL, sorry...couldn't resist!)

Just put 'em in your browser's favorite links list.

I blame Porkerson.

Once, he made me cry just a little bit with one of those bullying PM's. :(

I was in a foul mood for days, and my relationship with the Starbucks girl will never be the same.

:D :D Its all good, I've got an evil plan in the works to liven the place up a little.
