well, i've found another gap in my collection :),

looking for an EDC fixed blade, here's what i came up with:

-3.5" blade at the most
-g-10 scales
-comfortable IWB kydex/concealex sheath

i usually have puukkos to fit the bill, but sheeple still give even those 'the eye' dangling from a belt, so i want something out of sight.

i've looked at Nealys, Doziers so far.

thanks for your time,

Metis

Richard,

thanks. i was actually over there earlier and saw them. definite food for thought.

How about the Camillus Cuda CQB-2? The scales aren't G-10, but the linen Micarta that they use for the CQB series is pretty nice!.:).

You know you need to join the Dozier Straight Personal group here. There is a significant number of us.... all will tell you that once you get one of these, your search is over. The blade is just under 3", but this knife cuts like a much larger one. Of course it is Bob Dozier's excellent grind of D2. I've had mine now for almost a month, and it is still razor sharp, and I use it every day. It comes with a horizontal belt sheath, which is darn near invisible if you are either blessed with excess midriff, or wear your shirt untucked. Or, you can do what I do most of the time, put it in your pocket. This is a fantastic knife, small enough to pocket, large enough to cut just about anything you need to, and with unmatched Dozier quality. His wife Linda answers the phone, and she will gladly help you in any way. Sometimes you can get this model off of AGRussell's site, or the Dozier's may have some in stock. If not, the approx 4 month wait is certainly worth it. For what it is worth, I ordered mine with ironwood handles, and it is simply gorgeous! You can also get custom micarta done... another member has recently posted his pic of one with tan micarta with a black stripe in it. Do a search on Dozier straight personals, you will find a wealth of info.
Good luck and happy hunting, Mongo

Consider a Fallkniven F1 with a Concealex sheath from Normark. The grip is Thermorun, sort of a tough rubber (harder than Kraton) which gives an excellent grip. Combined with Normark's sheath, this is a tough, sturdy, very concealable combination I can't speak too highly off.

My choice here is the Benchmade Nimravus Cub Model 145, in one of Normark's multicarry rigs. The blade is just a hair under 1/8" of 154CM that takes and holds a hair popping edge. Handle material and blade length also meets your criteria.

Newt Livesay makes a neck knife called the NRGS.It has a 3.25 inch blade of 1095, Rc59, handle material is Black micarta. Price is $55

I like a bunch of knives around that size, and most of the factory ones (that I like) have already been listed, except the 154CM Talon.
My favorite carry fixed blades, though, are Darrel Ralph's ArcLight, and Trace Rinaldi's Gambit. Choose your size, handle material, bladesteel, and sheath options. "Standard" versions of both are ~$200, so either is in your budget.

i'm leaning toward the Dozier Personal right now. it reminds me most of my favored puukkos.

the search goes on....j
