Issue with Spyderco CS?

Hey, here's my little disclaimer, I love Spyderco and I'm not angry or irate or anything, I just need to know what to do.

I just need a new clip for my dodo. The old one sheered off and I want to sell it. Anyway, I emailed Spyderco CS and they said I needed to talk to them on the phone to get me the right one.

The issue is, I've called more than 5 times, on 5 different days over the span of three weeks, all well within the hours listed on the website, adjusted for time zone. I've never been able to get a hold of anyone on the warranty line.

I have left a message, and I got an email back within 24 hours, which is nice, but the email just said I needed to call so they could get me the right clip.

I'm an extraordinarily busy person during the day and obviously I can't just call at 10 pm at night, so I'm not sure what I can do about this.

Keep trying. I don't understand how some people can't get up with spyderco?

I've called over 5 times, and every single time I was talking to a real person within 1 minute.

Right, I'm really surprised too...I wish they could just ask me whatever they want to ask me over the email so I could get this done with...

I get the operator at Spyderco every time though. It's just the service department I get the message at...and it's not like, call waiting, it rings 5 times before it goes to voicemail. I've tried between 1 and 2, and a lot of calls between 4 and 5 since that's when I usually get home before I start working again....central time.

Odd for sure since I've had amazing CS experiences with Spyderco before. Good luck.

I've called over 5 times..

What are you doing to those poor knives!?

:p

I haven't had to call for warranty issues but I'm sure they'll take care of you AM. Keep at it or e-mail them your number with an explanation. I work in customer service and call people that e-mail me all the time. Maybe Spyderco has the same type of program.

Lol, it's all for the dodo's clip. I never really use my Dodo anymore, I think it's time to pass it on to someone who will appreciate it...but I'd like to sell it with the clip, so I'm trying to get it back together.

Unfortunately, I don't think Spyderco carries spare clips for discontinued knives.

At least that's my understanding.

I've emailed 5 times and called once in the last 5 weeks, absolutely nothing. Not a single word from Spyderco.

Absolutely ridiculous.

check the catalog, there should be another still in production knife using the same wire clip. ask a new clip for the knife in question by mail and you're done.

i've put an UKPK clip on my dodo because it rides lower. it works.

Unless it's the Salsa wire clip? Dunno, never owned a Dodo but the Salsa had a wider wire clip than the current version.

Call SFO, if they don't have one for a Dodo, they probably the one used on the Poliwog. It seems to be about 1/16" shorter, when I compare the knives, but it will work because it's the same width and the same gauge wire. Then again, the next owner might prefer the low rider style wire clip, lots of folks do.

+1,
I called SFO, when I needed clip for discontinued knife. They picked-up right away. Found the clip and shiped the same day.

Same thing here. I called for a Persian clip that I had snapped trying to bend back, and it was a painless transaction. Sorry to hear other experiences haven't been as easy as mine, all I can think is that it may be due to Spyderco being out of town for recent knife shows.

GL with finding the clip.
If you can't, though, how much would you sell the Dodo for w/o clip?

You want to contact the SFO. They'll hook you up. I tried calling warranty for replacement clip screws, and got no-where. My first call to the SFO, I was able to get not just the screws but the entire replacement clip without any problem.

They ship really fast as well.
