Here is a 2009 bone handled Pathfinder I recently acquired. These were sold thru Bass Pro. I'm disappointed to find a full length crack in the handle and about 10 short 1/4" cracks all around the pommel. Is this cracking normal for these knives? Will the handle be stable or did I buy a problem? This knife came in the black Limited Edition box with a brown sheath. It was not marked as a blem. This is the first knife of this series I've seen in person. As a "limited Edition" is it correct for this knife to have a standard non polished blade and normal 3 line tang stamp?

Hi DeSoto,

As DM said you can breathe easy that is normal with bone and it gives your handle an aged look. In the photo's below is the BP bone 119 I got a few years ago, not one line has changed at all.

I think it's just the nature of the handle material. I have a 2011 version of the 119 from Bass Pro and it has the same 'cracks'. I can see, but not feel them so I don't find a problem. It's not an FB either. It also has the non polished blade and standard stamp.

I'd just send it back.

I can't see the full-length crack you mention, but it should have had a little FB on the side to designate it as a blem.

I've seen plenty of blems like that on e-Bay.

Check the blade to see if such a mark may have been polished off. Buck's blem marks are light.
