Issues with a brand new Recon1

Hello there! I've recently joined the forum looking for help with a brand new knife I bought.

The knife is a Recon1 clip point with half serration. Right out of the box, I noticed the overall tightness of the pivot and back lock. Unlike my SOG vulcan tanto, the Recon1 does not flip open at all and it takes considerable effort to disengage the lock.

This is my first experience with Cold Steel products and I am unsure if this is normal for these blades. If it isn't, how might I be able to home-remedy these issues?

Cold Steel's folders require break-in. If you use the inside edge of your thumb (@ the knuckle), it'll be much easier to unlock it.

Normal. It will take a little use to loosen up.

You can loosen the pivot, but my preference is to use it and open it and it will smooth up.

The lock on the knife is significantly stronger than just about any lock on the market.

I can flip mine, but it is not really a flipper. It does get much faster to open.

Thanks for the replies! I see what you guys mean, I've been opening and closing it for a while now and it's gotten a tiny bit smoother; I can almsot close it one-handed now :)

Also, leave it half open in a safe place when not carrying it for a couple of weeks. This will also aid the lock in breaking in.

Not an issue, and i dont even think it's the knife breaking in. It's more like you will develop a manly thumb strength to operate the triad lock. Like others said, dont use the thumb tip to unlock, use the joint.
