Probably the CA did not get wicked all the way through the tube.
Tip for making no-void mosaic rivets:
When making mosaic rivets, put a piece of plastic aquarium hose on one end. Hook it to a vacuum pump. If you don't have a vacuum pump, use a strong vacuum cleaner or shop vac and one of those nozzles for vacuuming your keyboard. Epoxy the hses in the end.
Mix your dyed resin with thin casting/pouring epoxy. It is always best to use epoxy dyes. Woodcraft and many places sell it in many colors. Several knife suppliers do, too.
When it is mixed, place the rivet vertically rivet in the pot of epoxy and turn on the vacuum.
When you start to see resin enter the clear plastic tube clamp it off with a tube clamp or hemostat. Snip the tube just past the clamp and turn the rivet upright so the open end is up. Set somewhere where it will stay vertical (I tape it to a leg of the workbench with a piece of duct tape).
You can stick the hose on the next rivet and do several from the pot of epoxy.
Let the resin cure overnight.
Second Tip:
If your name or business name starts with a reversable letter, make personalized rivets. A,H,I,M,O,T,U,V,W,X.Y are all reversable letters.
Make the initial from thin strips of metal from the hobby store. A good hobby shop will have all sorts of metal types and even angle pieces, as well as the tubes and squares needed to make rivets.
Make the letter so it just slides snug in the rivet tube. Solder together on the ends, no need to solder all the way down. You can tack the pieces together with CA if more adjustment is needed. Fill with colored resin and you have a rivet that shows your initial from both sides of the knife.
Combining round and square tubes with the initial and metal rods makes a very attractive custom rivet. Be creative!
